Lebenslauf
Adrian Meier ist Juniorprofessor für Kommunikationswissenschaft an der FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen in der Mediennutzungs- und Wirkungsforschung, der Medienpsychologie und der interpersonalen Kommunikation. Er untersucht u.a. die Folgen digitaler Kommunikation für Wohlbefinden, Gesundheit und Selbstregulation, insbesondere an der Schnittstelle von Arbeitswelt und Freizeit (bspw. digitaler Stress, Prokrastination, digitale Kommunikation im Homeoffice). Methodische Schwerpunkte liegen auf in-situ Befragungen, digitalen Verhaltensdaten und KI-gestützten Literatursynthesen.
Zuvor war Adrian Meier Assistant Professor an der University of Amsterdam (Okt. 2020 – Jan. 2021) sowie Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (2015 – 2020). Dort schloss er seine Promotion (Aug. 2020, summa cum laude) und einen MA in Kommunikationswissenschaft (2013 – 2015) sowie einen BA in Publizistik und Politikwissenschaft ab (2010 – 2013). Studien- und Forschungsaufenthalte brachten Adrian Meier an die Göteborgs Universitet (Schweden), die University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA) sowie das Weizenbaum Institut für die vernetzte Gesellschaft (Berlin).
Adrian Meiers Dissertation erhielt den Dordick Dissertation Award der International Communication Association (ICA) sowie den Dissertationspreis der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Publizistik- und Kommunikationswissenschaft (DGPuK). Seine Forschung wurde in führenden Zeitschriften der Kommunikationswissenschaft und Medienpsychologie publiziert und auf nationalen und internationalen Tagungen mehrfach ausgezeichnet (bspw. ICA, DGPuK, DGPs). Adrian Meier engagiert sich als Editorial Board Member und ad-hoc Reviewer für Fachzeitschriften und Tagungen sowie als Secretary der ICA Communication & Technology Division.
